Our History

Ambrose E. Greene develops and starts manufacture of the original SPEED-VISE in 1924 in Berkeley, CA.

Cardinal Machine Company acquires the Greene SPEED-VISE in the late 1930s and moves production to Glendale, CA.
Revisions and updates to the vise are made in the 1940s.

During World War Two, production shifts to helping the war effort. Cardinal Tool produces the gun carriage and mount of the M-5 tank.

Further refinements are made to the vise in the late 1970s to increase strength and durability.

Cardinal Tool is acquired by Tolman Tool Mfg. in 1994 and manufacturing is relocated to Pomona, CA.
